FarmVille Review

On October 15, 2012

Avast ye, mateys! It is I, your trust old seadog, the App Pirate, back once again from my worldly travels to give you the latest finds on app treasures!

Even I know that simulation games are all the rage these days. From raising pets, building stuff and even raising humans as simulated characters is what is considered to be “in” for gaming. Who hasn’t heard of FarmVille though? Even I who is constantly ocean bound have often heard a rambling or two about this game that is supposedly one of the most popular titles in the world.

In the event that you’ve been living under a rock or have been marooned on an island somewhere for a number of years, FarmVille might be news to you. However, the game has been famous for quite some time now and it is considered to be one of the best simulation titles that had ever been developed for online gamers as well as handheld users.

What the Game Is

Essentially, FarmVille is a farming simulation app that allows you to do things like you would in real life. You get to plant crops, raise livestock and even build things that you would normally see in an actual farm. Of course, since this is a game, a few extra features have been added to make the playing a bit more fun. For instance, depending on the amount of money you earn, you will be able to build large houses, barns and even get better quality crops to grow.

The Fun Factor

FarmVille runs on real time. This means that if a seed you have planted for a particular crop takes 8 hours to grow, you will literally have to wait 8 hours until they come into maturity. Some crops even take days but it is sure worth the wait because the rewards are even greater. What you do after planting the seeds and having them grow is to collect them, in which you will be rewarded with coins you can use to buy more seedlings as well as be able to expand your farm.

The bigger your farm is, the more coins you will be able to earn and so forth and so on. Sounds fun for a booty-collecting pirate like me. An endless supply of coins is never a bad thing. Adding to the thrill factor and the need to play is due to the fact that the plants will wither and die if you do not collect them within a given time frame. This will then cause you to lose potential income and even suffer a huge loss in your farm.

Another fun factor is that you will also be able to raise animals that also serve another purpose in FarmVille. The funny thing is, even if you leave the animals, they will always be there and never die! You can also connect with other gamers who have farms and can become your neighbors. The benefit of doing this is being able to trade goods with other “farmers” in this game.

Is It Worth Playing?

Farmville did not become one of the most addictive games in recent years because it is “just all right”. It is definitely a game worth playing and spending a lot of time on. I mean, if I didn’t have to take on adventures and treasure hunts, I would much rather spend the entire day expanding my crops in Farmville and even try to expand my farm. Finally, this game also teaches players a valuable lesson in responsibility. If you don’t take care of your farm, the crops die. It doesn’t get any simpler than that! Have at it and enjoy.
