Scramble With Friends Review

On November 17, 2012

Avast thar, ye privateers! It is I, the death-defying App Pirate, back once again to give you the latest in gaming apps. Today, we have a game that will make you develop your vocabulary and at the same time, make you interact with your friends a lot.  Hopping from island to island and looting booty is a lot of fun, but at times I just want to sit on me ship’s topgallant and play a fun game such as this one.

Scramble with Friends is such a game that can give ye just that. Available for the iOS and Android, this title is your run o’ the mill combination of boggle and scramble. What sets this apart is that you can only play once you are connected with ye “friends” that play the game too.

What makes it fun

So the main objective of the game, like any word game, is to get the highest scores possible. That can be achieved by finding as many words as you can on the grid which contains 16 letters. The more words you find and the longer combinations you can create, the higher points you will be able to get. It’s a pretty simple game that gives a buccaneer like me loads of fun on me down time. Not every day should mean swashbucklin’ adventures that have me hanging from ropes and fighting off krakens, right?

A lot of what makes Scramble with Friends fun is the fact that ye be able to play with your real friends that you can connect with online. It’s a competition to see who’s quick about their wits and probably who can swipe their fingers the fastest. I know for a fact that me fingers cannot be defeated when it comes to this kind of battle. I got years of experience and I give no quarter to no one! Mercy is for the weak, even in word games. It also doesn’t hurt that this game also has good graphics and fun sound effects especially when ye form words and get points in the process.

The game play

Aye, this game be simple when it comes to playing it. With my one good hand, I am able to swipe my way into getting high scores and defeating any swabbie that dare challenges me. Since most Android as well as all iOS devices is touch-based, it comes as no surprise that this game does too.

You will be playing on a 4X4 grid that contains 16 letters. The objective is to combine words by piecing the letters together. The more letters in a word, the higher points ye be getting. There is also a time limit, which adds to the thrill of playing Scramble with Friends. Aye, time limits are very frustrating and even make my steel o’ nerves melt when the seconds run down. Plus, there be multipliers and bonus points when ye be able to get to the next levels.

In addition, there be also certain bonuses you can use to help with ye game before every round begins. These bonuses, when used wisely, can make you win handsomely in every round.

The Final Judgment

Although it seems that Scramble with Friend be more like a race against time rather than who gets the better words, it is still loads of fun and excitement. Who has the fastest eye? Who moves his fingers the fastest without making mistakes? These are all questions that need to be answered, kind of like if Davey Jones’ locker does exist. The only difference is that playing this game will determine a clear winner from a loser.
