Boom Beach Review

Ahoy there land lubbers! Sailin’ the high seas in the good ole Jolly Rogers is serious business. Pirates can get hurt and pirates can put the hurt on other people. That is why when bad pirates attack our beloved ship, we beat them so bad so they would know we’re not someone to battle. Speaking of battle, that reminds this old salt the app that I’ll be sharing with ye lads and lasses in this review. It’s called Boom Beach from Supercell.

It’s Familiar with Something New

Boom Beach is from the makers of another hit game the Clash of Clans. If you have played this one before, you’ll be familiar on how to play Boom Beach since they have a lot of similarities. This is not surprising though since they were both made by Supercell. You will be given a base that you need to defend. You’ll need to strategize on how to strengthen your defense, as well as when you attack the base of the enemies, which would let you unlock more resources.

It’s not completely a copy of Clash of Clans as it has something new to offer giving it a fresh feel. Obviously the settings and the characters are different. The game is set in a tropical paradise and your base would be an island. You can also only make one construction at a time, which could take time, thus making in-app purchases of diamonds alluring. These diamonds can speed things up and let you purchase other items. You’ll have more control with your troops in this app and you can use ships for attacking the enemies. Even though you haven’t played Clash of Clans before, it’s not difficult to learn how to play Boom Beach, especially there are tips that pop-up that would guide you along the way.

Excellent Graphics and Effects

Supercell is known for its fantastic graphics. Like Clash of Clans, it has an excellent, crisp and vibrant graphics. The developers nailed this area as they usually do. What’s even better is the effects. The trees bend when there’s an explosion and the water in the ocean also moves. This add to the fun of the game.

It’s Addictive

Boom Beach can get addictive since you would want to grow your base and be victorious against other players. Since it takes time to build structures and you can also construct one at a time, it’s a game that you would see yourself playing for an extended period, especially if you don’t intend to make an in-app purchase to speed things up. You’re not required to make in-app purchases as you can continue playing the game without doing this. All you need is patience for this.

The Good

Boom Beach is an enjoyable strategy game that would keep you playing for a long time. It’s free and it lets you play with and against other players, which makes it even more fun. It has great graphics and effects that add to the positive experience. It’s also familiar, while still offering something new keeping it fresh.

The Bad

It takes time to build the base, especially you can only construct a structure one at a time. The diamonds that are used for speeding things up are scarce in the game so you may need to make an in-app purchase if you want to get more, although they can be expensive.

The Verdict

Boom Beach may have similarities with Clash of Clans and it could take long to build your base, but it also offers more control, thus making it fun. Another bonus is its great graphics and effects. So if you love this type of game, it’s recommended that you download the app and give it a try.
