Avast ye me hearties! This buccaneer is about to sail the good old Jolly Roger and continue another exciting adventure with me crew and pet parrot. But ‘afore I do that, ‘fcourse, I wouldn’t leave without giving you another dose of app review that me found from the seven seas. Ye see, I have lots of photos and videos downloaded online and also sent by me landlubber friends. Some of them I want to keep private. I found this app called Secure Gallery by SpSoft. This old bucko finds it helpful, especially when these old salts borrow me phone. Let me share it with ye me lads and lasses in this app review.

Basic User Interface

Secure Gallery App

The user interface of Secure Gallery app is pretty basic. You would find a list of your folders, which you could easily lock and unlock. It’s no rocket science. It doesn’t matter if you’re not a techie person as it doesn’t require a technical skill. Even the most non-technical person would learn how to use it in minutes. It all requires selecting the folder that contains the pictures that you wish to lock or hide and choosing the password or pattern for unlocking it.

Delivers Its Main Function

Secure Gallery Lock

It’s true that phones have password or pattern protection. However, there are times that friends or family members borrow your phone for texting, calling or playing games. After you unlocked the phone for them to use, all your photos and videos would be available for them to access too. Secure Gallery is a free app and it’s an interesting one for those who do not want specific photos or videos to be available for others to see. As you already know, the main function of this app is to hide photos and videos that you locked. They could only be shown by entering the correct password or pattern that you’ve set. This protects your privacy for the photos and videos you wish to remain hidden from others.

Offers Additional Features

Although Secure Gallery app is mainly designed for hiding pictures and videos on your phone so those who borrow it wouldn’t see them, it also has added features, that are very much welcome and gives more convenience. For instance, instead of using a third party editing app for rotating, cropping or renaming your photos, you can do this with this app. However, some users are experiencing problems when they updated their Android OS to the latest, which is Marshmallow. Nevertheless, this app is continuously being updated so it should work with the latest OS soon.

The Good

This is a great app because aside from the fact that it’s free, it has an easy to understand and simple to use user interface. Users wouldn’t have difficulties with learning how to use it. It offers both password and pattern protection whichever you prefer and also gives additional features like simple image editing.

The Bad

You may encounter problems using it with the latest Android OS Marshmallow.

The Verdict

If you’re using an older version of Android or the developers have already updated the app to work with Marshmallow by the time that you would be downloading Secure Gallery, you wouldn’t have any problems with it. As mentioned, it’s easy to use and it could effectively hide images and videos that you wish to keep private.
