Fox Tales: Rocket Run Review

On July 27, 2014

We don’t get many land critters roamin’ our decks. Once in a while, we take in the odd stray or animal based cargo. That bein’ said, me and me crew do enjoy the company o’ animals. This be why we always try to stay as long as we can in exotic lands. O’ course, we can’t always maintain a friendly critter on the ship, which is why we turn to games instead. So here’s me review of Fox Tales: Rocket Run, another one o’ those endless runners.

Endlessly Flying

The charm of endless runners is that they never end. You can just take a look at Temple Run or Jetpack Joyride and see how fun each can actually be. Fox Tales: Rocket Run falls into the latter, in that the little fox flies around each level.

Fox Tales Review

You control the fox, whose name is Kizu, by moving him up and down by tapping the screen. You can also choose to land on the floor if you want to walk the fox for a little while. As most of these games go, you’ll be able to collect coins which you can use to buy more upgrades. There is an in-app store which you can use to advance Kizu a little further, but they’re not really necessary. While you fly through each level, more and more obstacles jump your way. There are rotating buzz saws and birds that will try to hinder your progress.

More on the Fox

There are a couple of cute things you will enjoy once you start the game up. First off, there are the online leaderboards which adds a bit of competitiveness if you’re into that. You can also play with friends, and if they fail at a level, a little tombstone appears where they died. This dusty old Pirate sure likes looking at tombstones and floating graves, Muahaha.

Fox Tales App

Fox Tales graphics are quite basic and bring in a nice retro feel, which makes you focus on the actual game. The general look and feel of the game is okay, it doesn’t really stand out but once you’re starting to play you’re totally hooked – there’s no way out! In fact, there is so much stuff going on in Fox Tales that you just keep on playing on and on.

The Verdict

If this description seems a little light, that’s because the game is a little generic. There isn’t much to be said about the game, other than it does have its charms. The gameplay is smooth and fair, and it gets  challenging as you continue on your “journey”. Also, Fox Tales does throw the odd curve ball every once in a while, so you have to stay totally immersed in the game while at it. The upgrades are also a little underwhelming though; you’ve probably seen each in different endless runner games. Fox Tales will keep your entertained for a good while, and make you want to beat your friends score and get on that leaderboard. Hey, it is also free and available on both iOS and Android, so why don’t you check it out.
