Avast ye scurvy dogs, it is time for I, the App Pirate, to lay upon thee another review! ‘Afore I sailed the seven seas and dived to the bottom of the ocean to get booties at Davy Jones’ Locker, I was a regular young lad like ye that had friends back home. Even though it’s only seldom that I see these landlubbers, we still get in touch and that’s thanks to the different messaging apps that we can use. Speaking of such, the app that I will share with ye me hearties is also a messaging app called Kik. It’s a free app from Kik Interactive Inc. Let me tell ye more about it by starting this review.

It’s Fun and Easy to Use

Kik Review

Kik is a messenger app that would allow you to communicate with friends via chat. This may not be a new thing in the app world as there are already other chat messengers out there, but it has a potential to grow in popularity because of its simplicity. It’s straightforward so anyone can use it without difficulties, even those who are just really starting to use such app. It’s also fun as you are not just limited to sending text messages, but you can also send in photos, videos, stickers and gifs.

It’s Social

Kik App

You can chat with your friends by adding their username or scanning their Kik code, which is not a usual way of adding contacts on messengers. This app lets you connect with people that have the same interest. You can do this by simply making a search of anything that you’re interested in and joining the group chat of what you found in the result. It’s also possible to create your own group based on your interest so others could find you.

It Comes with Privacy Features

While anyone who finds your username can send you a message, it offers the option to ignore, block or report the sender from the message window without having to go to their profile or accessing any complicated settings. This is a great addition as this would prevent spam or unwanted messages from continuously being sent to you when you don’t want to get them.

The Pros

Kik is free and it’s available in various mobile operating system so this gives you a chance to connect with friends even if they are using other devices. It’s nice how you can share videos, photos, stickers and gif files instead of just being able to send chat messages. The ability to block, report or ignore senders directly from the message is a great feature as this makes it easier to prevent unwanted messages.

The Cons

It’s not yet as popular as other messaging apps like Viber, Skype and Tango so only a limited number of your friends may have it. However, you can always ask them to create their account as it’s free, fast and easy anyways so you can connect with them. The old messages are also automatically deleted.

 The Verdict

Kik may not yet be as popular as other messaging apps, but it has a huge potential to make it big since it’s free, easy to use and fun. You should give it a try and invite your friends to get it as well as you can connect via the app.
