Labyrinth Review

On December 17, 2012

Shiver me timbers, the Labyrinth game has got me sea legs all wobbly and trip over me long clothes. Aye, this app be one of the most exciting titles I have ever set me fingers upon. Have ye ever played one of those games where a ball must travel through a maze to get to the end without falling into one of them holes along the way? If not, then ye be in for a treat.

Labyrinth be an app that gives you the game play mentioned above. You will be squiggling about, moving from left to right in an attempt to get that nasty ball to the end goal. Trust me when I tell you that this app be anything but relaxing.

Goal of the Game

It be the simplest thing there is, the entire goal of the game. In every level, you need to get the ball to the end goal. At the same time, ye need to avoid all the other holes while moving along the “labyrinth”. From all the intensity, playing this game feels like ye be walking the plank while sharks are waiting for you with mouths wide open.

Other than that, there is nothing much regarding what ye have to do in the game. No other controls, no special moves or anything else. Just get the damn ball to the goal and it be as simple as that. However, do not discount its lack of features for a weak game. Labyrinth will be one of the hardest things you ever played, even if ye be an experienced gamer. One does not simply fight against physics, matey. Essentially, this game is all physics. There be no characters you need to level up or jolly boats you can use. With this game, what you see is what you get.

Playability and Fun Factor

Labyrinth be the easiest game you will learn to play without the aid of a letter of marque or in this case what you young lads refer to as a “manual”. Ye see, this game be pretty straightforward. Controlling the ball entirely depends on your movements and the way you hold your device. For instance, ye be needing to hold your iPad in a flat position with’ the screen facing the heavens. Then, the slightest move will send the ball rolling towards that direction.

This is the fun part of the game, to tell you the truth. If ye play this game out in the open, there is no telling what your mates will think of you. It is with a guarantee that you be squirming a lot, acting like a complete lunatic in an attempt to get the ball to the safe zone. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that this game also has a thousand levels you can play with so you can never think that ye can finish it all in just one session. As simple as it may be, the interface be very realistic and the physics engine is quite close to real life.

Worth the Purchase?

Labyrinth costs $3.99 in the App Store. While that may seem like a hefty sum for some buccaneers, you have to think of its longevity in terms of playing with the app. As mentioned, there is a league of levels and getting through them all will be impossible in just a couple of sessions. Of course, this be possible if you play from dusk ‘till dawn for seven days like I did. Aye, I don’t even have an idea of what day it is today. The purchase is very much worth it, especially if ye love physics-based puzzle games.
