Poptalk Review

A pirate’s life be a lonely one. Aye, if it were not for the WiFi machines we installed, there’d be only scallywags to talk to aboard. O’ course, that don’t mean me and me crew don’t try to send our own messages in bottles. We be a resourceful sort, so we tried every messenger available in all the app stores. Some were fun, others be of the lewd sort, and other just be messengers. So when Poptalk came out, we took the time to learn it and find out if it be the messenger for you. Here be our review of this animated little application.

The Avatars

Okay, so the first thing you will notice when you apply for the app are the avatars that adorn it. Once you apply for an account, the next step will be for you to design your own avatar. This little character will be in every message you send. At the same time, the chat box is replaced with a 2D background for both of the participants.

PopTalk Review

This little touch is nice when it comes to making a messenger more interactive. Don’t like how your character looks with the default clothes? Then change them with a new wardrobe! There are tons of different items which you can use to make your avatar look even better. This little feature adds a bit more depth to the messenger, which is entertaining for quite a while.

Animations, Expressions and Social Networking

Okay, so you have avatars in their own environment, and little speech bubbles. What else is there in the app? Poptalk tries, and is decently successful at adding another level of depth to messaging. Every time you send an emoticon or message like lol, your avatar will laugh along with you. There are unique animations for every character, and since everyone can customize avatars, the app feels very tailor made.

PopTalk App

While this program is a small social network on its own, users can still connect their other profiles together. For example, you can take a selfie of your avatar and post it on Facebook and Twitter. if you can find other users who frequently use the app, then add them on FB or follow then on Twitter. If you want to make your avatar a little more attractive, then you can wait for fixes, or use the iAP.

Verdict

Poptalk is a fun little app, which is targeted to a very “nichey” audience. If you like the idea behind games like second life, then this app should spread the experience to your mobile. The store has a ton of new clothes you can purchase within the game, so better put your money to use if you’ve gotten yourself sucked into PopTalk. Of course, this game is freeware so they have to make money somehow. Overall, Poptalk is worth a look because its free, unique, and can provide a few hours of entertainment between friends.
