Zombie Farm 2 Review

On December 2, 2012

Blimey! Nothing makes a pirate happy like a scarecrow version of himself. You see me lads handcrafted a scarecrow that looks a lot like me. Yep the boys of the good old Jolly Rogers like me too much that they have taken upon themselves to create a replica of me. You know what? Even in video games, if one game is such hit, they make another version of it. Remember how Cut the Rope was recreated in Cut the Rope: Experiments. Or how Angry Birds was released in Seasons pack, Rio pack and the Space pack. And I am so happy that one of my favorite mobile game apps is getting the same treatment. The Zombie Farm franchise has added Zombie Farm 2! Here is my review to the second edition of Zombie Farm.

A Zombie Farm???

Forgive me land lubbers. Where are my manners? Before we continue with this review, here is a quick refresher of what the original Zombie Farm was all about. It is a simple Sim-City like game. You develop a small farm into something bigger. This game concept is based on the Facebook hit Farmville. You can consider it a spoof if you want. There are plenty of game cues that do not shy away from that idea. The main difference though is in the crops of the field. In Zombie Farm 2, you plant zombies. And what is the use of planting zombies? If you have enough walking dead creatures, you can invade your neighbor’s place. The game concept seems mindless, no pun intended. But that is how mobile gaming apps succeed. Just keep the game play simple and the premise even simpler. If you can make it wacky or crazy, the game will become an even bigger hit. And that is why Zombie Farm became a big hit. And now this is the reason why we have Zombie Farm 2 to review.

The Return of the Zombies

The part two of Zombie Farm stays faithful to the fun features that made the original a success. For instance, you can still plant zombies and use them to attack your neighbors. But the differences are in the game play. One good example is the removal of withering. In the original version, if you don’t harvest the zombie in time, the undead will wither and will become useless. In the new version, a new system is in place. The zombies may not wither but the longer they stay on the ground, the lower their value is. This is a fair trade for players like you. There will be times that you will miss the harvest period and having this new feature can help you salvage some earnings from your zombie. Another welcome addition in the game is the focus stat. In the original game, hungry zombies are bad for your attacks. Even though the zombies no longer crave for food before an attack, they can become distracted and become useless. Some of the distractions are rainbows, butterflies and even cupcakes. But if your zombie attack team has a high focus stat, they can keep moving forward to your neighbor’s house and eat their brains. These are cool features that make the game more challenging and fun.

Mix and Match Zombies

There is a Zombie Farm 2 feature that is so cool it deserves more attention than the other add-ons. The zombie mutation pot is the cool new addition to your Zombie Farm. This in-game feature lets you mix and match your zombies. You add one zombie to the other to make a weird new one. For example, a turnip arm zombie and tomato head zombie can make a tomato-head-turnip armed walking dead creature. Visually, this is very cool. And game wise it adds a new dimension. With this feature you are not just a farmer, but you are now also a geneticist.

Zombie Farm 2 is a great step up to the original game. Download it now and start having fun.
