Ahoy there me hearties! Here’s your friendly app pirate giving you another app review after sailing the seven seas. The game that this buccaneer will tackle today is close to me heart. Ye know lads that anything that has to do with ocean this old salt like. The app is called Mobfish Hunter. Hunt and kill the mutated fish called the Mobfish and earn points to unlock more levels and stages. Avast ye me lasses as we start with the review.

It’s Similar to Ridiculous Fishing

Mobfish Hunter Review

If you’ve played the hit game Ridiculous Fishing, the gameplay is basically the same as this so you would be instantly familiar with it. Throw the lure down the ocean, avoid the fishes by tilting the device and go as deep as you can. When you hit the fish or reached the depth limit of the weapon that you chose, the lure would go back up turning into your weapon. Kill as many fish as you can as this would rack up points, which you would need to upgrade weapons to go deeper and also unlock stages. There are also some differences between the two games, including the graphics. Ridiculous Fishing would also require you to use a gun to kill the fishes, but this one doesn’t require that.

Great Graphics and Smooth Animation

Mobfish Hunter App

The reason why this app is always being compared to Ridiculous Fishing is because you could tell the first time you’ll play it that it was created after the game. Although they have the same gameplay, Mobfish Hunter developers did a better job when it comes to the graphics. The environment and characters were designed well. They have vibrant colors and their movement is also smooth. The animation when the lure turns into a weapon is also fantastic.

Thumbs Up

What’s good about this game is that it comes for free. Ridiculous Fishing is a paid app so if you’re looking for a free alternative, this is a good option. It comes with different stages or world, which would keep you looking forward on the game. The graphics is also a treat to the eyes. It’s also responsive as it follows when you tilt your device to the direction that you want it to go.

Thumbs Down

As mentioned, the weapons have limits on the depths that they can reach. When you first start on the game, you will have the most basic weapon that can only go up to the first level of depth. You need to have enough points in order to upgrade it to go deeper. The problem is that it’s slow to rack up points. You may need to play with the first weapon several times before you can upgrade. There are in app purchases that could make the process faster but this would mean spending real money. Note that in app purchases are not required and you may continue playing the game without spending real cash.

The Verdict

Mobfish may take time to rack up points and unlock more weapons and levels, but if you’re looking for a game that you could play for an extended period, then you may consider this. It’s also recommended for those who are looking for a free Ridiculous Fishing alternative app.

I am not sure how you guys feel about Mobfish, but I personally believe that it might turn out to be slightly repetitive and some might even find it boring over time. I really like the concept and graphics though! However, a game that delivers excitement and thrills would do the thing better. This platformer: https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/electricity-run-game/id963759829?mt=8 does it right these days and I’ve been loving it!
