Swing Review

On January 28, 2016

Ahoy there me mateys! It’s your friendly app pirate again back for another app review before we sail the seven seas. Ye see, me and the crew, when we explore an island and go booty hunting, most of the time we also play around swinging from tree to tree like we are Tarzan. This game that I will share with ye isn’t about the king of the jungle, but it has something to do with swinging. It’s called Swing by Ketchapp. Avast ye and let’s begin.

Graphics Is Just Okay

Swing Review

The graphics of the game is not something that would make you wow. It’s pretty basic, although it’s not too bad either. It would remind you of DOS based games that were released when 2D or 3D were not yet made. The main character is a small cartoon that looks like Peter Pan or Robin Hood. It’s wearing a green hat and green costume. There are other characters to unlock when you collect enough diamonds that you’ll find throughout the game. There’s mountain, sea, and sun in the background. There are also platforms where you will swing to go to the next one.

Simple Game But Difficult to Master

Swing App

The basic game play is easy to learn. Users of all ages wouldn’t have difficulties learning how to play it. The character will be holding a rope and you will move it backwards until you feel the length is enough to swing you to the next platform. The challenging part is that there are narrow platforms where you would find difficulties moving forward. Since the space that you will be landing on is limited, you need to be very accurate. Making the rope a bit shorter or longer could result with the game ending.

Can Be Repetitive

Although this can be an entertaining and fun game to play, the gameplay is the same until your character falls and the game ends. There are no other challenges or variation in stages or background. Aside from the narrow platforms being the challenging parts, there are no other challenges or obstacles that could make it more exciting.

Pros

The game is free and there are no in-app purchases as of the moment so you’re safe from spending real money if this is what you wish to avoid. It’s easy to learn how to play and there are also challenging parts that make it more fun, especially if you’ve been playing it for a long time.

Cons

There are advertisements that could play for a long time, which is understandable since it’s free, although it could still be frustrating at times. Aside from the narrow platforms that serve as challenges, there are no other twists or variations that could make it more exciting and enjoyable.

The Verdict

Swing is a game that would keep you occupied for some time, especially if it’s a boring day and there’s really nothing to do. It’s a free time waster so if you’re looking for an app like that, you should give it a try. If you’re looking for something with more complex challenges and varying worlds and difficulties, this may not be something that would interest you.

Swing could have been a great game if only the graphics were slightly better than what they actually are! I am looking for another game to play alongside my favourite platformer: https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/electricity-run-game/id963759829?mt=8 and I believe that Swing will surely meet my needs. I do hope that the developers come up with new updates soon!
