Yo, ho, ho and a bottle of rum! Ahoy there me lads and lasses! Your favorite app pirate is here again, ready to go on another exciting adventure around the seven seas. Our treasure hunt was successful for the past few weeks and we worked so hard, so we decided to take a couple of days off to relax and unwind. We docked in this fun and gorgeous city where we explored various places and tried different activities, and of course foods! You know how we buckos love eating, aye? Har, har, har! I personally loved the local diners serving their local specialties. Although, of course, I also enjoyed the other restaurants that served other popular dishes famous in other places. It was an excellent culinary experience all in all. Since I could not take you hearties with me in those restaurants, let me instead share with you an app that is about managing them. It’s called Chef Friends: Cooking Game by Mytona.
It has vibrant illustration and lively music

The artwork is impressive. There are different foods and themes to look forward to, so there’s always something exciting coming. The graphics are vibrant and well-drawn. Even the animation is enjoyable to watch, like for instance the customers who are not just standing there but are doing different things like checking their phone and reading the newspaper. The area where the foods are cooked is also spacious, so you can see the details properly, and at the same time this makes it easier to cook and serve. The background music and special sound effects like sizzling of foods and sounds from the customers also make it livelier.
It’s free with various restaurants to unlock

This game is free to download, and although there are in-app purchases, you will not feel forced to spend real money to keep playing, at least on the first and middle part of the game. There are also different restaurants to unlock that have various themes, so you will see a variety of setup on the restaurant and foods to serve like the first restaurant that serves the basic pancakes and the groovy retro that serves fries and shakes.
The progression is fair at first
The level of difficulty progresses fairly as you play, but as mentioned, at least in the first and middle part of the game. There are also tutorials when there are new foods or new equipment, so you would know how to prepare or use them. However, once you get to higher levels, upgrades can be expensive, which slows down the progress, which can be frustrating. At this point, it feels difficult to clear the levels without spending real money. You can also watch advertisements to earn more rewards to help with the upgrades, but this too can be time consuming, although at least you will not spend real money if you don’t want to.
It has a story with makeover feature
It’s fun to follow the story because it feels like you are a part of it since you play the role of the chef. You see cooks start their restaurant and progress from there. It’s also exciting to follow what comes next, especially the interaction and dialogues among characters. If you love decorating or makeover games, this game also has that feature as it lets you restore and decorate the restaurants, and even do a makeover on the cooks or restaurant owners.
The pros
It’s free with vibrant and impressive artwork that also comes with lively music and sound effects. There are many restaurants with various themes, foods and equipment to unlock. It has a story to follow and a makeover feature.
The cons
The progress takes slower once you reach higher levels as the upgrades are more expensive.
The verdict
We highly recommend Chef Friends: Cooking Game to those who are into cooking and restaurant management games. It has the basic gameplay you are familiar with but comes with gorgeous and impressive artwork and enjoyable music. There are different restaurants to unlock that have their own themes, so you will find a variety of foods, equipment and decorations. There’s an engaging story to follow and you can do a makeover with both the restaurants and characters.
