Yo, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! Ahoy there me lads and lasses! Your friendly app pirate is here again, ready to go on another booty hunting journey around the seven seas. The crew and I met our landlubber friends and went to a park that had this cat show. The cats were adorable with their costumes, which made me remember my pet cats when I was a little lad. I badly wanted to bring them with me on the ship, but since I knew I couldn’t take care of them properly as I will be extremely busy with booty hunting, I decided it was best to leave them home and have family and friends take care of them. Thankfully, there are apps like Arrows & Cats: Rescue Puzzle by Nanali Studios that let me take care of cats, even just the virtual ones. I’ll share this game in this app review. Batten down the hatches and let’s start.

It’s free and relaxing

Arrows & Cats Rescue Puzzle Review

You can download this game for free, and although there are in-app purchases, you don’t feel forced to spend anything to continue. It’s possible to keep playing without spending real money if you prefer to play for free. This is also a relaxing game as it doesn’t have any timer. You can play at your own pace without pressure. The early levels are easier to complete, and while it gets more challenging as you progress to higher levels, they are not too frustrating. The higher levels would make you pause and think more than the easier levels, but they still don’t feel impossible to solve. They are more challenging, which makes the game more engaging, but not too much that it will frustrate you.

It has cute images and plenty of things to unlock

The images are cute, especially the adorable cats that you can collect. There are different types of cats to save and collect as you progress, and they have different breeds. You can also customize their name, making the experience feel more personal. It also offers customization features as you can change the costumes of the cats and make them more presentable. Aside from the costumes, there are more items to unlock, including more spaces to make your map bigger.

It’s a mix of logic puzzle and decorating game

If you love logic puzzles and decorating games, you will enjoy this app as it offers both. It’s not for those who are looking for hard core puzzles because as mentioned, although the harder levels will make you think, they are still not too difficult to solve. But if you like general average difficulty puzzles that you can conveniently pick up or put down anytime, this is a fantastic option. It also lets you decorate the space with different furniture and decorations, so you get to see it flourish from a blank and white empty space to a livelier and more beautiful place.

There are unskippable ads and it hangs

Aside from the advertisements that you get after a few levels, you also get unskippable long advertisements when bringing the cats back to the town. There are also times that the game hangs forcing you to close and reopen it, which affect the overall game experience.

The ups

It’s free and there are various things to unlock. It has an average level of difficulty that keeps you interested without being frustrated. The images are adorable and it’s a combination of puzzle and decorating games in one. It’s also relaxing as there is no time pressure.

The downs

There are unskippable long advertisements after a few levels and putting back the cats to town. You may also experience app freezing, which could force you to close the app and reload.

The verdict

We recommend Arrows & Cats: Rescue Puzzle to those who are looking for a casual and relaxing puzzle game that also comes with a decorating feature. It’s free to download and you can keep playing without spending real money. There are many levels to unlock and you can also collect different breeds of cats that you can rename and dress up. It’s a game that you can casually pick up and put down anytime, and it’s relaxing as it doesn’t have time pressure and the levels have average difficulty.
