Learn more about this app with this Tiny Token Empires review.
Basic Gameplay
Tiny Token Empires is a combination of turn base strategy and match 3 game. Set in the ancient times, you will play the role of the general of one of the nations including the Greeks, Romans, Persians, Carthaginians and Egyptians. The first campaign will be for the Romans, which will serve as a tutorial. This will teach you the things you need to learn to play the game. Upon completing this campaign, you will take another campaign for a different nation. The goal is to make your army powerful to conquer other nations. You can hire troops, create buildings and use equipment on the cities you acquire.
If you have played a turn base strategy game before, you will be familiar with the basic gameplay. But unlike the other strategy games, micro management of your resources is limited. When you reach an inhabited place that you wish to conquer, there will be a battle between your army and its own force. This is where the game gives a different twist as you will be playing a match 3 game against the enemy, which is similar to bejeweled, only it’s turn base. Instead of gems, different colors of tokens are used on the puzzle.
You and the opponent will take turns to determine who wins. It can be repetitive but since there are different campaigns, modes and difficulty levels to complete, you will still find yourself wanting to play the game again and again. Each campaign can take a long time to finish. If you want a fast paced game, this may not be for you. However, you can always save it so you can pick up where you left once you have the time.
Graphics and Sounds
The graphics is cartoon like and it’s somewhat similar to what you would see on comics. There is not much animation in the game unlike most of the apps that are released nowadays. However, this does not affect the overall appeal of the game as it does not really need much animation considering its genre. The background music and the sound effects will make you feel that you’re in a real battle.
The Verdict
This is a witty strategy of combining two game genres in order to make it different from the rest of the other apps. If you are into strategy and match 3 games; and you are looking for a game that will keep you occupied for a long time, then this app is for you. If you get easily bored and you enjoy fast paced and animated games, this may not be the app that you’re looking for.
