Puzzle games had been around since I first started sailing as a pirate. During me free time, I always play these games as they keep me occupied when we’re not booty hunting. There’s this new puzzle game that me and these old salts are playing and it’s called Farms & Castles. Batten down the hatches as your friendly app pirate share with ye lads and lasses this app review.
Clean Graphics
The graphics is not something spectacular but it was cleanly made and it’s well organized. Its simplicity makes it pleasing to the eyes. The game window is filled with green land. Scattered around it are rocks and trees. There are also a couple of bodies of waters that look like ponds, although they are there more for aesthetics as they cannot really be moved during the game. Aside from that, characters also pop-up on the game letting you know that you can exchange goods and gold for magic orbs, which you can use to remove things on the ground and acquire more space.
Subtle Background Music
There’s subtle background music, which I think works well for the game. It’s enough to add life to the game without overpowering it. There are other apps that have loud background music that already make it disturbing instead of fun. When it comes to sound effects, the developers also did a good job on this area. You would hear distinct sounds when using orbs and when building farms and castles.
Keeps You Occupied
This is something that would keep you occupied for quite some time since you would find yourself wanting to beat your own score or reach the top of the leaderboard. The gameplay is pretty basic that it would be easy for anyone to learn how to play it. While it’s easy at first to complete puzzles to make farms and castles, it gets more difficult as the game progresses as you get lesser space. The game would eventually end once all space had been used.
Advantages
The graphics and sound are just right for the game. Another good thing about is that it’s easy to learn, which means that all levels of users would be able to use it without a problem. While it’s easy to learn, it’s challenging enough to give you that excitement when playing. It’s also free to play so you can download and start using it without spending a dime.
Drawbacks
It comes with in-app purchase, which could tempt you to spend real money to get orbs for freeing up space, unless you have self-control. However, this isn’t a requirement so you can still play the game without paying any money.
The Verdict
As mentioned, the only drawback that you may experience for this game is the in-app purchase that could be tempting for those who can’t control spending cash to progress in the game. However, if you have self-control or you really don’t mind spending for in-app purchases, then this wouldn’t be a problem. This is a game that would keep you playing it repeatedly for a long time so it’s recommended that you give it a try.

This clearly is a kids’ game and I really do not understand how they could have thought of including in=app purchases to it! It’s a shame really! Many parents will surely refrain from getting this app for their kids and this is just not going to help at all.
