Cats… I don’t like ‘em, and me thinks that I never will. They can’t help on the deck, they’re scared to death of water, and every time I bring one on the ship they try to attack me Ratty. Don’t get me wrong though, there were many times when I tried to get one as they so stop the mice from eating away at our rice and stock down on the lower decks of me tired ship. Me niece also fancies ‘em, so I have no choice but to bring her one every time I’m docked in a place with a rare breed of cat. The thing is, no matter how many lives they have, cats never last on me ship for longer than their claws can keep ‘em attached to the poop deck. That’s why Talking Tom be a welcome change on this ship, because I don’t have to clean up after the thing.
How deep is the Game?
In all honesty, the game is really aimed at the little kids that love cats. This is one of ‘em interactive apps as opposed to dedicated games. Of course, my little niece has been so entertained by it if Talking Tom were any boring. The game itself features a tiny little cat that stands around waiting for ye to interact with it. It’s silly, but it is well built and detailed so ye can tell the creators put a lot of effort in making the title shine. Overall, Tom emulates yer voice in funny tones, and it plays out mostly the same. Some of the older crowd has, of course, used this to send nefarious videos and salty sailor talk to their friends and fellow shipmates. That’s right; ye can record videos of Tom saying the most lewd things and send ‘em to yer friends. However, it isn’t really suggested for those trying to entertain their young kin.
Beyond that, it be hard to stay involved with the little app beyond keeping the young ones entertained in short bursts. Ye might even marvel at the many hours they spend letting the little cat mimic their voices. Often, in pride, they would show ye just what they made Tom the Cat do and what they made him say. It’s an adorable display, really, and if ye have no other reason to get it, then this one would be the best. The other thing that made me little niece almost rattle all of the ship with laughter was the poking, the prodding, and the purring from Tom. If ye touch the little avatar, or poke, he will react accordingly and much to me surprise, the controls were quite responsive. This probably be ranked among some of the best quality apps I ever bought.
As a little warning though, there is a bit of violence in the game. If ye poke and prod little Tom, he will experience pain, although only animated pain. Do it enough, and the cat gets knocked unconscious as if ye had swung him to and fro the deck. This little tidbit may seem minor, but it is still good to keep track of yer kids if they do abuse the feature a little too much.
Get if for yer Kids
Aye, as part of the older crowd, there is little to find in Talking Tom. The initial charm of sending little lewd gestures in kitty voices be funny, at first, but soon wears thin. This is why this review ain’t for ye, but for yer kids instead. They will have a blast with this app, and it can serve as a little breather if ye want to distract yer kids. It can’t replace real care though, so keep it around when yer child becomes a little too restless for his or her own good.
