Yo, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! When me and the crew are drinking rum, ye won’t believe what our favorite food match is; it’s sausage! Aye, this buccaneers never get tired of eating sausage. When I found this app called Run Sausage Run! by Crazy Labs by TabTale, it got me attention, ‘acause ye already know, this old salt loves sausage! Har, har, har! I tried playing the app so let me share with ye what I think of it in this review.
Adorable Sausage, Errr Graphics!
As the title suggests, the main character in the game is a sausage. The default one is the smoked sausage, which will remind you of the characters in another app called Dumb Ways to Die. Aside from the default sausage, there are also other sausages available, and some of them are unlocked when you reach a particular level, while others can be unlocked by purchasing them through the coins you earn in the game or by in-app purchase. The various sausage characters are cute, including one that looks like Donald Trump, and another one that looks like Stephen Hawking on wheelchair. The environment also changes in this fast-paced game, so you will not be easily bored with what you see.
Easy to Learn, Hard to Master
At the start of the game, there’s an instruction that will tell you what to do to play the app. It’s pretty easy to remember as it will require you to tap and hold on the screen to make the sausage duck and run, and release to make it stand and walk slowly. The challenge is when you do this on the actual game as things happen fast, and before you know it you’re in another obstacle again.
Requires Focus and Quick Reflexes
Since this is a fast-paced game and there are various obstacles ahead, you need to be focused. Your entire attention must be on the screen or your game will end abruptly. It also requires quick reflexes, so you need to act fast when it’s time to tap and hold, or it’s time release to survive longer in the game and break your personal best.
Has a Violent Nature
While the sausage characters are adorable, it has a bit of a violent nature as they will be sliced, smashed, and burnt if you failed to overcome the obstacles. They don’t look gross though since they are cartoonish, but then again, you may think about exposing your children to this.
The Ups
Run Sausage Run! is a free game that is easy to learn, but hard to master. You will feel challenged to do better than your previous score. There are various sausage characters available and they all look adorable.
The Downs
The only downside of this game is that it has a bit of violence since it involves smashing, cutting, and burning sausage that has life.
