Yo, ho, ho and a bottle of rum! Ahoy there me hearties! Yer favorite pirate is about to embark in another amazing adventure with the crew, and of course let’s not forget me parrot pet. We have our eyes focused on the prize. It will be a huge find because according to the information we found, there are a lot of buried treasures in the island that we are sailing to. Everyone in the good old Jolly Roger is excited and we can’t wait to land on the island and start booty hunting. This old salt didn’t forget your dose of app review, don’t ye worry. Batten down the hatches and let me tell ye about this app called Square Bird by Moonee Publishing Ltd.
Classic graphics
The graphics of the game is not extravagant or that eye-catching. It’s basic and it will remind you of classic games like the Super Mario. There’s also a similarity with an app that also became popular, which is Flappy Bird. The latter also had something similar with the Super Mario, which is why maybe they also looked the same. While Flappy Bird would remind you of the green pipes in the said classic game, Square Birds will remind you of the brown soil and green grass, and the part at the end of the level where Mario jumps for the flag. While the graphics is not fabulous, its classic look gives that feeling of familiarization and being taken back in time, which is also positive.
Easy to learn, moderately challenging
The gameplay is basic. You just need to tap on the screen to add more white boxes so the bird can avoid the objectives. Three perfect landing and you will be in fever mode. While it may take some practice to get to the fever mode, it is not as hard to achieve as other game. The difficulty of the game is moderate in general. It’s something that most players could still find challenging, but for those who prefer hardcore challenges, it may not be for them.
Free but with ads
Square Bird can be downloaded for free. However, just like many free games, you can expect advertisements, that can sometimes last for 30 seconds. It is still livable considering it’s a free game, but if you do not have much patience or you hate ads, it could affect your game experience because ads appear every now and then.
Thumbs up
The app is free so you don’t have to spend anything to get it. It’s easy to learn and it has moderate level of challenge if you just want to past time and enjoy. Its classic graphics gives you a sense of familiarization with old popular games.
Thumbs down
It can be repetitive because the gameplay is the same for all levels. The background also doesn’t change so it can get boring.
The verdict
If you are looking for a simple game with just the right level of challenge, Square Bird may be an option for you. However, this is not for those who prefer highly difficult games.
