Yo, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum! Ahoy there me lads and lasses! Your friendly app pirate is here again for another booty hunting journey around the seven seas! After our most recent dive down Davey Jones’s locker, we docked our ship to have some fun time on land and also stuck up on our needs. While we were exploring town, there was a show of various breeds of dogs and they were all adorable. If only I could bring them with me on the ocean, but I can’t. Good thing I found this game that made have a pet dog virtually. It’s called Dogotchi: Virtual Pet by Mawges and I will tell you more about it in this review. Listen up and let’s start.

It’s nostalgic

Dogotchi Virtual Pet Review

The game will remind you of the 90s toy Tamagotchi that lets you care for a virtual pet. But instead of a toy, it’s installed in uoi device. The concept is generally the same where you need to take care of the needs of your pet to keep it alive and happy. It uses pixel graphics and even the sound effects and backround music are similar to the classic video games making you reminisce the past. What makes it different graphicswise is that you can change the color theme your preference by adjusting the settings.

It’s relaxing and easy to understand

Dogotchi Virtual Pet App

Even if you have not played tamagotchi or any other virtual pet games before, it’s easy to understand and navigate so you will get familiar with it in no time. It’s also relaxing as there are not too many complex tasks to do except for the usual caring of pet like feeding, bathing, playing and putting it to sleep. There are also mini games that add to the things you can do to avoid being bored. But it can get repetitive after a while since you do the same things.

It’s free but with excessive advertisements

You can download the game for free. However, the advertisements are excessive. You get an advertisent in every new thing you do or when you go to a new space or area. It’s frustrating because it throws off your focus from the game. There’s an option to remove the advertisements but it’s for a fee.

There are various pets to unlock

Although you can only play with one pet a time, you have three avaIlable pets to choose from and you can switch to any time at the start of the game. There are nine more to unlock as you progress, so you get to have up to 12 pet options in total. Each of these pets have three unique mini games that come with them, so unlocking them also means unlocking more mini games.

The good

It’s nostalgic with its pixel graphics and 90s video games sound effects. It’s fun, relaxing and easy to understand. There are various pets to unlock that also come with unique mini games. It’s free to download too.

The bad

It can get repetitive and there are also excessive advertisements.

The verdict

We recommend Dogotchi: Virtual Pet to those who are looking for simple and fun virtual pet game that reminds of the 90s. It’s nostalgic and it’s relaxing as there are no complex gameplay. You can unlock several pets and play mini games that come with them. It’s also free to download and play.
