Yer app pirate is back again from another swashbucklin’ adventure in the seven seas. Aye, ‘acourse I have something for ye today me lads and lasses. This old salt will give ye another review and this time, it’s for the app called Hammer Time! ‘Tis a casual arcade game from The Binary Mill that would let ye buckos protect your castle using a giant hammer. Sound exciting? Let’s start the review me hearties!
Fantastic Graphics
Hammer Time! has an amazing graphics. Children and adults alike would love it because it’s clean and vibrant. The castle is located in a hill that has golden sand with the blue sky, sun and the mountains in the background. You will be hammering different sizes of boulders and the boulders are no ordinary boulders because they have faces; angry faces that is! The sunny temperature also turns into winter so you would also be seeing snow along the way. There are different types of hammers to unlock and they add fun to the game. There are hammers with feathers, made with candy canes and those that look like axe made of frozen eyes. They are interesting and you would want to collect them.
Just the Right Sound Effects
The game doesn’t have a background music but it’s not really a deal breaker since it has just the right sound effects. You’ll hear a distinct sound when you hit a boulder and also when your turning the hammer. Since boulders usually come immediately after the other, you would hear several sounds when you hit them, so it would just sound chaotic if there’s background music playing. The boulders would explode if you were not able to hit them and that also has a distinct sound; well, a sound that you may want to hear as it could mean game over.
Not New But Entertaining
Hammer Time! is a free high scorer game that may not offer innovation because the gameplay is not something fresh, but still it’s entertaining. The goal is to score as high as you can by hitting the boulders and not missing any of them to save the castle. The game is over when you miss a couple of them. There are power-ups and gifts that you would get along the way. The game is repetitive since you would be doing the same thing. However, it could still be addictive since you would want to get a higher score, preferably higher than that of your friends. It also has the element of challenge because the boulders get faster and more in numbers as you progress in the game and you would find it difficult to keep up.
The Ups
Hammer Time! is free and it has amazing graphics that’s a treat to the eyes. The sound effect is just right as it’s not overwhelming. The background changes and there are various kinds of hammers, which make it more fun and interesting.
The Downs
It comes with an advertisement and you need to make an in app purchase in order to remove the ads.
The Verdict
The advertisements are typical on free to play games so that’s forgiven. If you’re looking for a casual game that would keep you occupied or something that you could play that would keep you busy, Hammer Time! is a good addition to your list of apps.
