My Virtual Girlfriend Review

On June 29, 2013

Shiver me timbers! Me lips be moving to the tune of me own chantey but with a different set o’ lips! Aaaaargh! This be sorcery I tell ye! Oh, could be that this ol’ Jack Tar be havin’ too much grog in me ol’ ship. Arrrrrgghh, it be lonely out there in the wide ocean, and as an expert lootin’ pirate meself, the time apart from the wenches on land can be a harrowing experience. First, me men always start to think that those manatees be women, and that makes me shiver to me very core.

I can’t blame them though, as the touch of a girl, or even just an exchange o’ words can mean the world to a lonely pirate. In fact, that be the reason why I search the app store for something to quell me woes and those of me men as well. We were actually nicely surprised when we found out that My Virtual Girlfriend provided some o’ the aspects we miss so much about the land-locked lasses.

The Gameplay

Have you ever played one of those virtual games where you have to take care of something, like in the Sims or some of the games on Facebook? Well, My Virtual Girlfriend shares some of the aspects of those games. The main objective of the game is to make your GF happy by interacting with her like you would in real life. You’re given many options, but initially, these are limited to conversations, jokes, and cute little moments between you to.

As you progress, the list of stuff you can do also increases, but the challenge of the game comes from towing the line between good guy and bad boy. This makes for an interesting batch of situations, and the responses you get from your girl are actually sort of humorous. Of course, one might expect that in a game like this, there will eventually be explicit content, but surprisingly there isn’t any. Once you manage to fill up your girl’s heart to the max, you’re just treated to a lingerie show.

The Look of the Game

Since apps still run on relatively low-spec GPUs, you shouldn’t expect much out of the look of the game, but the whole game runs on a 3D engine which does an admirable job. The different environments where you can bring your date are pretty well designed and varied. However, since the game is more focused on the dating aspect, you’ll find yourself standing in a static environment most of the time.

The lady models are all detailed, and while it may seem a little sexist, the game does present you with pretty young women, but that is not to say that the character models are over sexualized in any way. In fact, the game is pretty safe for a game about dating, as risqué situations are minimized.

The Verdict

The combination of simple game play and pretty visuals make this a strong entry in the app store and iTunes. Obviously, this game is not for everyone, and very young children shouldn’t be able to get their hands on this. While the adult content in the game is very limited, it provides quite a few laughs and is also a fun way to kill time. If you’re a dusty old Pirate such as I, having a Virtual girlfriend to have on me cruses in all seven seas might be comforting. Aye?
