But ‘afore we hop on the ship, I’ll be sharing with you a trivia game that me and the buccaneers enjoyed playing. Aye, it’s not just about bottle of rums and gold for us. We also love working our brains every now and then. This app that I’m talking about is called QuizUp.
Get Your Brain Cells Working
QuizUp is a trivia game that you can get for free on your iOS and Android device. You can use your Facebook or Google+ account to log in or create an account using your e-mail. It’s better to use your Facebook or Google+ account though to automatically connect with friends who are also using the app. Else, you need to find them manually, which can be inconvenient.
The app requires Internet connectivity. You will not be able to log in or play if not connected to the Internet. Once logged in, choose your favorite topic from the hundreds of categories. You will be asked questions based on the topic you picked. As you progress in the game, your level gets higher. You may challenge your friends to compete with them in a game or let the app find a random player for you. The app will find a player that’s on the same level as you so the game will be fair.
You are given a few seconds to answer each question. Once the time is up, your answers will be compared. If both got the right answer, the person who answered first will get a higher score. It doesn’t have an offline or single player mode at this moment.
Interface, Categories and more
The app has a clean interface. It’s easy to navigate and options are readable. The dark background that contrasts with the white background of the texts works great since it makes them more visible. Even if it’s your first time playing the game, you can easily find your way around it.
This is one of the best things about QuizUp. There are 450 topics to choose from and 250,000 questions to answer. This will really test your knowledge because you’ll encounter thousands of questions. More topics and questions are continuously being added so you’ll encounter queries that you have not seen before even if playing it for a long time. The game is in real time so you get to compete and answer questions with other players at the same time. It also has a chat feature that lets you exchange messages with other users. It’s also a way of meeting new friends around the world.
The Verdict
This is without a doubt a quiz app that you should get on your phone. There are several topics to choose from, lots of questions to answers and it allows you to complete and communicate with other users. However, it would have been better if it can be played offline and if single player is available. Other than that, I’ll give it two thumbs up!
