Ahoy there me scallywag lads. The app pirate is back with the vengeance after a short vacation on land. But ‘afore I go on another booty hunt, let me give you this Samurai Siege review. ‘Tis a real time strategy game that ye buckos can add on your iOS or Android device.
Samurai Siege Overview
If you are familiar with the mobile app Clash of Clans, Samurai Siege is a lot similar to it. This is why it is dubbed by others as a Clash of Clans clone. If you are familiar with the said game, then you will learn Samurai Siege’s game play easily. But if you have not played it, don’t fret as it wouldn’t be too difficult to familiarize yourself with the game.
Your goal is to build a strong colony with powerful units and buildings. You would need this to protect your place from being conquered by other players. You may also attack other colonies in order to gain more experience and coins. This will help you level up, which you will need to unlock more units and buildings. You can then use the coins for purchasing and upgrading them. Gems are the premium currency of the game, which you can also use for upgrades, units, buildings and for speeding up procedures. There’s a scarcity of free gems on the game but you may get them as in-app purchase. Aside from the single player campaign mode, you can also join an alliance to fight with other groups. All members of the winning group earn gems.
The Game Play
What makes it different from the other games like Clash of Clans is that your level depends on how you play the campaign mode. With the other game, you can level up even when just playing the multiplayer mode, which is somewhat not fair for other players since others are only relying on the group to level up. Players can also communicate with each other through chat. Furthermore, there are stages that you will not be able to access unless you were able to conquer a certain number of colonies.
The Graphics and Music
The graphics of Samurai Siege is excellent. It has vibrant color and the environment is detailed. Even if played on a small screen, you will be able to tell the different buildings built on the area. While the units appear tiny, their movement is swift. The visual effect during battle is also great as you will see missiles and bombs being thrown, which explode as they reach the target.
The background music is more like those you hear on adventure or fantasy movies instead of the usual heart stopping background music for action games. But nevertheless, it still works well with the app. The sound effect deserves praises because it’s realistic. You will hear loud explosions that would make you feel like you’re in a real battle.
The Verdict
Samurai Siege does not really offer a lot of new things when it comes to the real time strategy genre. But this does not mean that it is not a good app to try, especially since it comes for free. You would still enjoy playing it and you would feel the fulfillment when you level up because you know that you’ve worked for it.
