Shanghai Mahjong Review

On December 11, 2012

The pirate life is indeed a stressful one. Swashbucklin’ adventures here and there, looting treasures from one isle to another and all the constant black spots from other buccaneers take a toll on me mind. Fortunately, I have an app that allows me to work me mind and relax at the same time. Shanghai Mahjong is a game that I play during me downtime.

Before I use one of me mate’s monkey jacket to use it on me neck to be in Davey’s grip, I play this game to avoid stress. Aye, this is not the standard Mahjong game that out friends from the Orient love to play. While it be similar in a sense that you are playing with Mahjong tiles, the concept is totally different.

The Game’s Objective and Playability

Shanghai Mahjong essentially is a puzzle game. The main objective of it is to remove all the tiles on the screen in as less time as possible. There be tons of levels you can play with in sequence which have their individual level of difficulty. So, the goal in each level is to match up tiles of the same pattern. Pair two of them and they be taken out like a marooner on a desert isle.

Every level has its own shape and pattern when it comes to piling up the tiles. Some be in shapes of animals while others are much simpler than the others. The fun factor in this game is that it relaxes me while I play it but at the same time, it makes me eyes and me mind work overtime. Surely, trying to find similar patterns with Mahjong tiles is already difficult enough but then in here, you have to look for ‘em in a pile of tiles.

When you play this game, you will be accompanied with a relaxing soundtrack that acts as the background music. Sometimes, I just open the app and play a level without actually doing anything about it. The music relaxes me mind so much that I just leave the app open while I close me eyes and do me business in the shop’s head.  As previously mentioned, there are tons of levels in Shanghai Mahjong. There are four stages, divided by four dragons and in each one there are lots of levels that you can play.

In every level, besides clearing all the tiles, you will need to do so as fast as you can to achieve a high star rating. There is a time limit for getting a perfect three-star rating, and the longer it takes for you to finish, the lower it will be. I have managed to get three stars in most of the levels, and I continually try to rack me eyes in finishing the others to get perfect scores. Alas, the longer you play this game, the better your eye reflexes become. This has also been very helpful for me in spotting land as me eyes are in tiptop shape.

Should You Buy It?

If ye would like to play a game that relaxes and at the same time makes your senses keen, then you should buy Shanghai Mahjong. It only costs $.99 in the App Store and it is very affordable for most people. So, when me mates are screaming to batten down the hatches and I am not needed for anything, I just lie down in me chambers and play this game until I fall to slumber. A very entertaining app and one that is fun to play, Shanghai Mahjong be a game that has a high replay value. Have fun, me hearties!
