Ho, ho, ho and a bottle of rum. Ahoy there me hearties, me crew and I are about sail the seven seas at the jolly roger tonight. But ‘afore we do that, of course, I wouldn’t miss the chance to give you buckos your most awaited app review. I found this app called Spartania: The Spartan War and I thought that ye lads and lasses would love it. This old sale had been playing it for a week and I got hooked. So batten the hatches and let’s begin with this app review so you could see if it’s something that you would like.
It Would Remind You of Clash of Clans
If you have played Clash of Clans before, this app would remind you a lot of it since they have lots of similarities. First is the way it looks. The cartoon characters and surroundings are a lot like the said game. You also need to purchases various resources and train your people to attack an enemy’s camp and protect your camp against them. These resources, structures and people can be upgraded to make them more powerful. What makes them different is that you can work on your defense separately. There’s a defense camp that you need to visit, where you can upgrade the tent of the commander, which is you, in order to strengthen your defense. The place where you build and collect resources is different. With Clash of Clans, you work on your offense and defense in one huge area of your base camp.
Cute Graphics and Nice Animation
The cartoon graphics of Spartania is cute and nicely done. It has sharp and vibrant colors that are entertaining to see. The animation is also smooth so you would clearly and you’ll enjoy watching when the people are on the move or are in a battle.
Good Sound Effects and Background Music
The background music works well for the game. You would feel that you’re in an adventure or action film when it’s played. The sound effects also add to the positive experience of the game as you would feel that you’re really in action during a battle.
Resources Not as Difficult to Collect
Spartania is a freemium game. This means that there are in-app purchases available that could help you speed things up and purchase or upgrade more powerful items. While other freemium games would make you feel that you are being pushed to make an in-app purchase, this one doesn’t feel that way. Although the resources may still take time to become available, it’s still bearable so you could continue playing the game without really thinking of spending real cash.
The Good
Spartania has great graphics and sound effects that both contribute to the positive experience of playing the game. It also doesn’t feel like you’re being pushed to make an in-app purchase so you could really keep on playing without spending real cash.
The Bad
While it has some differences from Clash of Clans and other strategy battle games, it still doesn’t completely offer something new. The basic gameplay and waiting for the process or building to complete can also be seen on games with the same genre.
The Verdict
Spartania may not offer a fresh gameplay, but this doesn’t mean that it’s not worth checking out. If you’re into strategy battle games, this is something that you should try. It’s free and it’s fun so there’s a high chance that you would love it.

I have had my dose of this type of games and apart from Clash of Clans, I really do not feel like getting into any other strategy apps. However, I am actually looking for innovation and entertainment and I was surprised to find it within a simple arcade-themed platformer: https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/electricity-run-game/id963759829?mt=8 . Thanks for sharing this great review!
