Well, ahoy there fella. It appears ye caught me red handed playin’ this new app called Temple Run 2. Ye see, I’ve always loved endless running games. I’ve played the first installment of the game and seems like this pirate is loving the second one even better.
Imangi Studios, LLC is back with the second installment of their hit game Temple Run. With its same exciting game play but improved features, you cannot help but get addicted to this app. Learn more what to expect on this new game with this Temple Run 2 review.
Basic Game Play
This is an endless running adventure and survive-as-long-as-you-can game. Like other endless runners, the game will end once your character dies. Your goal is to go as far as you can to get the highest possible score and be on top of the leader board. Like the previous app, the controls are the same. Swipe up to jump, swipe down to slide, swipe left to turn left and swipe right to turn right. Tilting your device left or right will make your character change lanes to collect coins, power-ups and gems.
There are four characters to choose from in the game. They do not just differ on the way they look but they also offer various abilities. Aside from avoiding obstacles and outrunning the enemy, there are objectives that you need to complete to help level up your character, as well as unlock more abilities and power-ups. Mine carts and zip wires were added on the game. The game environment also improved with hills, falls and curved roads being added on the app. Furthermore, if your character dies, you have the option to revive it using gems. With this, you can continue with the game without having to start over, thus, giving you a chance to get a better score. However, free gems are limited in number. You may need to purchase with real money if you wish to use more of them.
Run, Run, Run
Aside from the updates on the features, the hero also runs faster than the hero from the previous version. Instead of several monkey-like enemies chasing you, there will be one huge monkey that would run after you. But this does not really affect the game as your survival depends on how well you avoid the obstacles, so you better run, run, run without stumbling! Of course, there would still be power-ups that you can use along the way.
Abilities can also be upgraded using coins. These power-ups and abilities can help increase your speed, add distance, as well as get more gems and coins. It may be a non-stop running adventure, but you will not feel bored with its eye catching environment. Plus, you’ll want to beat your own score so you’ll find yourself playing it over again.
Verdict
The graphics of the game is far better than the previous installation. The background music and sounds add excitement while playing. With its new features, it’s more enjoyable and addicting to play. However, you may be tempted to spend real money for gems to continue the game when your character dies. This stinkin’ Pirate loves Temple Run 2, Garrr!!
