Ahoy there me mateys! How’s yer school today? Ye see ‘afore I became a pirate and devoted me self on the sea life, I was a smart student. I saw ye laughing there! Don’t believe me? Ask me parrot friend! It’s been with me ever since and saw just how good I was at school. I still am smart that’s probably why I’m drawn to apps that test me brains like The Moron Test by DistinctDev, Inc. I’ll tell ye lads and lasses more about it in this review. Hop on the good old Jolly Roger as we’re about to start the review.
Simple But Cute Graphics
The graphics of the game is old school but it works. The background is a piece of paper and the numbers and images are like those that you’ll see on posters typically hang on the wall of the classrooms in elementary schools. They will bring you back to those years of your life, which nice and nostalgic. Younger players on the other hand will find the images entertaining.
Easy to Learn But Tricky
The basic gameplay is easy to learn. Follow the instructions given in each puzzle. Some are as direct to the point as they can be, while others would require you to pause and think to determine on the best action to take. There are also puzzles that would require you to act fast and in others to wait. There’s a variety of challenges so as basic as the instructions are, you will still find yourself confused or surprised at some point. The game repeats from the start when you lose so you’ll know what to do on the next try.
Not Enough Apples for Hints
It’s not easy to get apples that you can use for the hints. If you run out of apples, your choice is to wait for some time before you can get more or make an in-app purchase that will cost you real money. It also comes with advertisements, which is a usual thing on free games like this one.
The Good
The graphics is cute. It may not be as extravagant as 3D games, but it’s a winner in its own right. It looks old school, which is nostalgic. It’s easy to learn but it can be tricky, which adds challenge and excitement to the game. It’s also free to play so you don’t have to spend money to download and play it on your device.
The Bad
There are not enough apples to get you through the tough parts that would be easier for you to solve with hints. Advertisements also pop-up, which can be irritating at times.
The Verdict
Aside from the usual concerns on free to play games like advertisements or lack of free apples or coins, The Moron Test is a fun puzzle game that will put your brain to work, while letting you enjoy and pass your time. We recommend that you give it a try as this will keep you thinking and having a great play at the same time.
