Zuko Monsters Review

On July 24, 2013

Well, ahoy there fella. It appears ye caught me red handed playin’ this new app called Zuko Monsters. Aye, me wife and I sailed to Calypso’s point, an island far off course from any merchant shipping lane. The island is serene and peaceful, with a cave stocked with a case of rum and a fully furnished cottage. But we’re now back to treasure hunting and playin’ cools apps on breaks.

The Basics of the Game

Zuko Monsters is a free RPG game from Goodbeans GmbH. If you are familiar with Pokemon, then you will be instantly familiar with this app’s gameplay as it is similar to that. You will collect different kinds of monsters and evolve them to become more powerful. You can then join battles against other players and defeat their monsters to be on top of the rankings. You may sign in using your Facebook or Game Center account. There are over 30 monsters to collect, each having their own type, skills and abilities. You need to learn about the different types of monsters and theirs strengths and weaknesses so you can strategize which monster and what skills to use to take down the enemies.

Zuko Monsters Review

There are different maps in the game where you can search for monsters. The areas where you can find these monsters have a search icon so it would be easy for you to tell where to look. You need to battle with the monster before you can capture it. There is a gadget that you will use in capturing the monster when it turns weak, which is called the gauntlet. Some monsters are captured with just one charge while others require multiple charges. The gauntlet has 10 charges by default, which recharges overtime.

Also, it takes several hours before you can regain even just one charge, which may stop you from capturing monsters, unless you spend currency to make the process faster. The game’s currency can also be used to fasten other processes including the health regain of your monsters and making the monsters available on a specific area instantly.

The Good and Bad

The graphics of the game is wonderful, especially during monster battles. The special effects on the attacks are great. The sound also makes these battles livelier. You can choose on which monsters and what skills to use for each attack. You can also choose which abilities to upgrade when your monsters level up. There are several monsters to collect that have their own abilities and looks, which make it more fun.

The bad side of the game is that you may end up using real cash especially for the charges of the gauntlet as it takes time to recharge. Bundle of credits ranges from $7.90 to $199.90. There is also no interaction with other players on the maps, which makes it a bit boring, however it’s really enjoyable to roam around it, kinda like exploring the seven seas, savvy?

The Verdict

This is an enjoyable game to play especially when you already have powerful monsters that you can join in the battles. However, you also need to be patient or you may find yourself spending real money on the processes that require waiting time. This is why this game is such a challenge, you’de have to start from scratch but once you become really experienced and strong you will be a menacing force to reckon with! Let’s set sail Lads, Off Ta’ Sea! Ahoy!
