Ant Raid Review

On May 7, 2013

Have ye ever seen a stinkin’ zombie in yer life? It ain’t a good sight staring down their decaying muzzle. And their breath, woooh! Aye, they be smellin’ really bad. I killed me several zombies back in the day, and they be hard to kill. But boy, those were the days. Killin’ em is a lot of fun, especially if ye got fire on yer side. ‘Tis why I really enjoyed playing this app called Ant Raid. Yep, ye buckos heard it right.

You might be confused what’s the connection between the zombies and the ant, aye? Well, the bugs, which are the enemies of the ants on this game, turned into zombies! From the developer of popular apps Bombergeddon and Dragon’s Lore, HeroCraft Ltd offers another hit game that will give you loads of gaming fun. Learn more about the app with this Ant Raid review.

The Basic Game Play

In this real time strategy game, your goal is to protect your ant colony from different bugs and insects that turned into zombies. Control the ants by tapping them and then tapping to the direction where you wish to deploy them or on the enemies that you want to attack. The ants do not have special classes. However, they have skills and powers that you can use as the game progresses.

For instance, you can use heal option to bring fallen ants back to good health. Enemies also have different abilities and powers that you need to watch out for. The blue bugs are stronger so it takes time to defeat them. The red enemies are faster though they are easier to take down. Strategize on how to place your ants and how to attack the opponents to prevent them from reaching your base.

For every enemy you kill your red and blue power meters go up. Once they fill up, you can use them to make your ants more powerful. The blue power can make them invincible for a short period, while the red power can make them faster. Tapping both powers at the same time can make your ants invincible and fast. Completing 60 levels in the story mode will unlock 40 levels that you can play over again.

The Good

One of the obvious positive things about this app is its graphics. Its cartoonish but clear and eye catching design will make your eyes pop. The background music and the sounds you hear when fighting the bugs also add to the excitement of the game. There are 110 levels to complete, which will give you something fun to do especially during down time.

Ant Raid App

The game is easy to play on the first levels allowing you to familiarize yourself better with the game. The higher levels become more challenging as the game goes on, which makes it more engaging and appealing. Ant Raid is not an easy game and it’s much appreciated! None of my old seadogs for instance, has finished the last level. Then, on the other hand me crew is filled with no good misfits, Garr!

The Bad

The only downfall of this game is the controls. While it is generally easy to control your ants by tapping to select a small group or holding the screen to select a bigger group, you may experience problems when attacking as you may deselect the ants if you did not precisely tap on the enemies. Other than that everything hits the spot basically, savvy matey?!

Verdict

Aside from the minor problems with the control when attacking enemies, you will love everything about this game. From its colorful and beautiful graphics to the challenging levels that you must complete, you may get addicted playing this app. Hoist the anchor Lads! Off Ta’ Sea!
